The largest launch in Abeking & Rasmussen’s history became visible earlier today. She’s a 321-footer, expected to be christened Aviva.
This is the second fully custom megayacht that Abeking & Rasmussen built for the owner. The German yard delivered the previous yacht, also christened Aviva, in 2007. She still bears that name, in fact, and measures 223 feet. Furthermore, the “old” megayacht and the new one are among four total that the owner christened with the name, either by itself or in combination with the word Lady.
That owner is Joe Lewis, a British businessman and investor. Among other things, he owns the Tottenham Hotspur football club in England. Lewis has openly discussed and even taken journalists aboard his previous yachts.
In fact, while aboard the 223-foot Aviva in 2014, he told Fortune magazine that the new Aviva would house a portion of his prized art collection. He also said that she would feature a special paddle court. (Paddle, also known as padel, is a racquet sport. It blends the rules and skills of squash and tennis.) Considering the 223-footer had an office where he worked daily whenever he was aboard, the new Aviva could very well have one, too.
So far, however, neither Abeking & Rasmussen nor Reymond Langton Design, the stylist, have commented.
